Event Development and Production Training

Overview

Dealing with challenges is part of producing exciting cultural and arts events, especially if you are making events that explore and celebrate QUEER stories, histories and social issues.

But challenges also offer the opportunity to try fresh approaches that inspire audiences and can be transformative catalysts for social change.

This practical and interactive short course in QUEER arts event development and production is for anyone who wants to produce impactful events of any size, whether at grassroots, community or arts professional levels.

Over three days some key elements of QUEER events development including:

  • Generating the best ideas and events for your context;
  • Audience research and development;
  • Partnership building and creating allies;
  • Fundraising;
  • Marketing;
  • Creating great work and building community through the arts in the face of homophobia and transphobia.

This course is produced and delivered by the Outburst Americas Collective. In January 2019 it was offered in Kingston, Jamaica, in partnership with British Council Americas, in association with 360 Artists and Beyond Homophobia Conference.
